Carey Street wins national recognition for community-focused design

Carey Street has joined a growing list of award-winning ŌCHT communities, earning a Merit in the Community and Affordable Housing Property category at the 2025 Property Industry Awards.

The award recognises the quality and care that went into creating the 16-home development – from its thoughtful design and smart site layout to the way the homes support privacy, comfort and community connection.

This is the third award for Carey Street this year, following recognition at the Canterbury Architecture Awards and the New Zealand Commercial Project Awards.

Built by a trusted team

Carey Street was designed by South by Southeast and built by Consortium Construction, with support from Quoin, Planz and Rangzen. It’s the same team behind the award-winning Willard Street development – and another step forward in raising the bar for community and affordable housing.

Carey Street was recognised alongside impressive projects from Habitat for Humanity, Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, and CORT, with the Best in Category award going to Habitat for Humanity’s Warren Place development in Whangārei. Carey Street was one of just a few South Island developments acknowledged in this year’s awards.
